Class description ballet
In my ballet class I focus firstly on correct placement and articulation. Furthermore I emphasize musicality and a generous usage of space to create a flowing class. I am stressing the moments of releasing during the exercises in order to minimize unnecessary body tension. I ask the students to direct their energy in a sufficient way and encourage them to "dance" ballet instead of merely executing the steps.I am not teaching a specific school of ballet even though I was educated mainly in the Russian Waganowa technique. During my career I worked with excellent ballet masters/ former dancers of great companies such as Nederlands Dans Theater, Ballet Frankfurt, San Fransico Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet  who inspired me in my teaching approach.
I obtained a certificate in the method of "Progressive Ballet Technique" which I can incorporate in ballet classes or floor barre-based classes.

Class description modern/contemporary
My modern/contemporary class is influenced by various elements of modern and contemporary dance techniques,Yoga, Somatic pracitices and is surely based on my experience as a movement researcher, dancer and choreographer the past years. I emphasize the knowledge of human anatomy, especially the mechanics of the skeleton that make movement more effortless, with less muscular input. Healthy stretching, correct placement, articulation, movement flow and weight initiated movements are the ingredients of my class. I emphasize the relationship of body and space and my aim is to understand movement as an on-going process rather than "making steps" or "doing tricks". The class is divided into progressive exercises to get the whole body warm, along with improvisational tasks to investigate in own movement research, and ends by one longer combination through space where I eventually ask the students to play with the dynamics, size and spacing with the given material. Therefore the class is not purely based on teaching "technique" but on the individual needs, abilities and creativity of the students.

Class description improvisation
In my point of view, improvisation is as much a technique you can learn as any other dance technique. It takes many years of study and practice to "master" it. The basic principle I am teaching is the concept of full awareness: of ones own body, the space you are in, the music/sound you hear, the people and their energies in that space. I am influenced (surely through my education) by Rudolf von Laban, the Contact Improvisation, the Forsythe Improvisation technologies and the works of Steve Paxton and the Magpie Music Dance Company/Katie Duck/Michael Schumacher with whom I danced.I am offering the improvisation classes as a workshop of at least three days in order to focus on its specific elements. This workshop is useful to dancers who want to broaden their improvisational skills, choreographers who want to explore other methods of generating movement vocabulary or curious dancers who are approaching improvisation for the first time. The goal of each session is to improvise shorter or longer sets of "instant composition" in smaller or larger groups.
