Cie. ZEIT/GEIST is a dance and performance company managed by Eva Baumann. Until July 2022, it operated under the name evabaumann/tanzproduktionen. In December 2013, Eva Baumann was recognised by the Stuttgart Regional Council as being on a equal footing with a state or local theatre. This means that, through our work, we fulfil the same cultural roles as state and local institutions.
Based in Stuttgart, this artistic platform has been initiating, devising and producing projects and artistic formats since 2012 that combine contemporary dance with performative and visual elements. The productions, which are created for both theatres and site-specific venues, often address profound social and psychological issues. The productions frequently cross disciplines and genres.
Cie. ZEIT/GEIST works with a pool of independent artists, technicians, and other freelance collaborators who play a key role in shaping the projects with a rotating cast. Without their collaboration, these projects would not be possible. In our collaborations, we strive for a partnership based on equality, with a clear division of roles and fair compensation in accordance with minimum standards.
Since 2012, Cie. ZEIT/GEIST – Eva Baumann has received grants from the City of Stuttgart, the State of Baden-Württemberg (LaFT, Innovation Fund), and the federal government (Fonds Darstellende Künste, npn – Joint Adventures, Dachverband TANZ). From 2022 to 2024/25, Cie. ZEIT/GEIST received a conceptual development grant from the City of Stuttgart.
The productions have been shown across Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Lithuania, France and Estonia and have received widespread recognition, including the 2013 Stuttgart Dance/Theater Award for the production solitaire, a 2018 nomination for Choreographer of the Year in the dance magazine TANZ for the production #herland, and various invitations to festivals, including the performing arts festival Berlin in 2018. Tanz!Heilbronn in 2019, Figure it Out in 2024.
